Map control creates choices
A team that has access to more of the map often has more ways to change its plan. Watch how players establish positions before a site attempt. An early fight may matter because of the route it opens, not simply the number beside a player’s name.
Map control is also temporary. Space that is not watched or supported can be taken back.
Watch the second player
The first player into a contested position usually gets the attention. The second player often determines whether the team can recover when that first fight goes badly.
Look at the distance between them and the angles they face. Being nearby is not enough if a teammate cannot see or respond to the same threat.
A useful way to watch a replay
Pause before the decisive moment and note what each side could reasonably know. Then replay the sequence and look for the decision that changed those expectations.
This exercise helps separate a good decision with an unlucky outcome from a risky decision that happened to work. For live game details and changes, use Valve’s official updates.
